A connection between the Brocade 5470 Fiber Channel switch (switchType: 73.6) and the HS22V blade HBA (ISP2532-based 8Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express HBA) may show up as a G-Port or negotiated at less than 8GB.

The VMware Compatibility Guide recommends the ftsys_qla2xxx version 831.k1.28.1-3.1 driver, but it is the qla2xxx driver that is loaded:

The current version in ESXi 4.1 Update 1 is 831.k1.28.1:

A later version of the driver is available (841.k1.16.2-1) from both VMware and QLogic that includes among the release notes:

To apply this driver download the CD image from the following location:

The vmware.xml file will need to be edited as per KB 1027414 to allow it to be imported. Ensure no additional folder structure is create during the unzipping and re-compressing after making the changes.

From within vCenter:
- Select Update Manager | Patch Repository tab | Import Patches
- Browse to the modified bundle and click Open
- Click Next
- Click Finish

- Select Update Manager | Baselines and Groups tab
- Click Create to create a new baseline
- Enter qla2xxx: scsi driver for VMware ESX for the Name
- Enter vmware-esx-drivers-scsi-qla2xxx 400.841.k1.16.2-1vmw.2.17.00000 for the Description
- Select the Host Extension radio button
- Click Next
- Select qla2xxx: scsi driver for VMware ESX in the list and click the down arrow to select it
- Click Next
- Click Finish

Attach the new baseline to the appropriate server, cluster or data center.

Scan and remediate hosts as per normal, remembering to select Extension Baselines for Individual Baselines by Type on the Remediate dialogue.

After the update the new module version is seen:
